Thanks to the impressive $148 million earned by “X2: X-Men United” through its second weekend, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (in the role of mostly-naked, azure-skinned Mystique) takes over the Number One Glamour Girl position, further boosted by her cover feature in Femme Fatales. Fellow “X-Men” babe Halle Berry (playing golden-haired Storm), last week’s #1, ranks #2; she’s the cover girl of the People “50 Most Beautiful” issue. Italian enchantress Monica Bellucci, featured in “The Matrix Reloaded” (nowng) as Persephone, and also with sexy cover layouts in the current U.S. and British editions of Maxim, is #3. German GQ & British FHM cover girl Jennifer Lopez is #4 (boosted by her sexy new music video for “I’m Glad”).

 

Pamela Anderson leaps to #5 with her remarkable Vargas-girl mostly nude cover layout in the June Stuff plus a cover feature in W magazine. How the Glamour Girls Hot 100 Is Compiled

Glamour girls earn points for each biweekly chart in the following categories:

1)     Movies: The current Top 60 at the box office; films that recently left theaters; and pictures scheduled for release in the coming weeks. Note that a glamorous role in a mid-level film can earn more points than a bland role in a bigger hit. Oscars, Golden Globes, and other honors are included; also, critical acclaim can earn the same credit as box office dollars.

2)     Magazines: Approximately 150 U.S. and international publications are included in each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the survey period count most heavily; recent magazines of the previous few weeks count at reduced value. Covers earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, etc.) are accorded higher point totals than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most notably USA Today) and pin-up calendars are also included in this category.

3)     TV: What’s on the tube during the two-week survey period, including first-run movies and appearances on late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings and Emmy/Golden Globe awards also taken into consideration.

4)     Internet: The major factors in this category are the Lycos Top 50, a weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the Lycos search engine (including many glamour girls), and the daily top 100 rankings by DAI News of the women with the most photo downloads. Selected Web sites are also included, most notably Gateway to Eden, the Playboy Cyber Club, Mystique, Bomis, IGN for Men, Ask Men.com, Famous Centerfolds, Danni’s Hard Drive, Adversus, VIP Models, Candy Dreams, Maxim, FHM & GQ websites, and others.

5)     Music: The Billboard singles and album charts; MTV and VH-1 music video rankings as published in Billboard; European and international charts. Grammy Awards and other music industry honors are credited here.

6)     Home Video: The video sales, video rentals, and DVD sales charts as reported in Billboard and Entertainment Weekly. This category carries about half the weight of the above “Big Five.”

7)     Sports: Glamorous gals who earn athletic achievements during the survey period.

8)     Other: Broadway and off-Broadway theater; books.

9)     Beauty and Sex Appeal.
