Eleven months after she first hit the supreme position, Beyonce’ Knowles is once again the Number One Glamour Girl as the young R&B princess stands at #1 on the U.S., British, and European charts with her hot single “Crazy In Love” from her chart-topping debut solo album, and excellent cover features for Maxim Blender, British Elle, and Essence among others. Her stay at the top will probably be brief, however, as Angelina Jolie—soaring to #2 on the eve of the “Lara Croft Tomb Raider” sequel debut, with a host of magazine covers including Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan, & Movieline—will likely be unstoppable in another week. Jennifer Lopez is #3 with a terrific ‘40s-style pin-up cover feature in Esquire in addition to her strong cover layouts in American Photo, Fit, and New Woman; coming on August 1 is her romantic comedy “Gigli.” Cameron Diaz hangs in at #4 with “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” about to top $90 million, hot cast layouts in the U.S. & British editions of Maxim, and her solo covers for British GQ & British Marie Claire. She portrays a killer cyborg in “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” ($128 million to date), and #5 Kristanna Loken shows off her equally devastating body with cover features in Maxim en Espanol, French Max and Shape.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” has emerged as one of the smash hits of the summer, and a prime reason is leading lady Keira Knightley, who ranks #6, aided as well by her co-starring role in the wonderful “Bend It Like Beckham” and cover layout in Elle. The box office success of “Legally Blonde 2” and magazine covers including Marie Claire & Teen People boost Reese Witherspoon to #7. Surging to #8 is exotic Brooke Burke with her hot cover layout in the August Stuff. R&B sizzler Ashanti Douglas returns to the Top Ten at #9 with her new #1 album “Chapter II” and Top Five single “Rock Wit’ You,” plus cover feature in Elle Girl. “Charlie’s Angels” co-star Lucy Liu, with cover feature in Arena, is #10.

One of the four “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” babes to achieve the Glamour Girls Top Ten the past two weeks (a feat unlikely to be repeated), Demi Moore, is now #11; her co-star Drew Barrymore is a few notches lower at #15. Serena Williams, having reaffirmed her status as queen of tennis with her latest triumph at Wimbledon (and again proving her sex appeal with a revealing appearance on the “Tonight Show”), eases down to #12. How the Glamour Girls Hot 100 Is Compiled

Glamour girls earn points for each biweekly chart in the following categories:

1) Movies: The current Top 60 at the box office; films that recently left theaters; and pictures scheduled for release in the coming weeks. Note that a glamorous role in a mid-level film can earn more credit than a bland role in a bigger hit. Oscars, Golden Globes, and other honors are included; also, critical acclaim can earn the same credit as box office dollars.

2) Magazines: Approximately 150 U.S. and international publications are included in each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the survey period count most heavily; recent magazines of the previous few weeks count at reduced value. Covers earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, etc.) are accorded higher point totals than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most notably USA Today) and pin-up calendars are also included in this category.

3) TV: What’s on the tube during the two-week survey period, including first-run movies and appearances on late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings and Emmy/Golden Globe awards are also taken into consideration.

4) Internet: The major factors in this category are the Lycos Top 50, a weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the Lycos search engine (including many glamour girls), and the daily top 100 rankings by DAI News tracking the women with the most photo downloads. Selected Web sites are also included, most notably Gateway to Eden, the Playboy Cyber Club, Mystique, Bomis, Ask Men.com, Famous Centerfolds, Danni’s Hard Drive, Maxim, FHM & GQ websites, and others.

5) Music: The Billboard singles and album charts; MTV and VH-1 music video rankings as published in Billboard; European and international charts. Grammy Awards and other music industry honors are credited here.

6) Home Video: The video sales, video rentals, and DVD sales charts as reported in Billboard and Entertainment Weekly. This category carries less weight than the above “Big Five.”

7) Sports: Glamorous gals who earn athletic achievements during the survey period.

8) Other: Broadway and off-Broadway theater; books.

9) Beauty and Sex Appeal.
