Oscar winner Nicole Kidman returns to the status of Number One Glamour Girl with her Golden Globe-nominated performance in “Cold Mountain,” which earned $44 million through its second weekend, and cover stories in Marie Claire, Entertainment Weekly and Good Housekeeping. Tyra Banks, who earned the #1 ranking last week with her sensational semi-topless cover feature in King magazine and the Jan. 13 return of her show “America’s Next Top Model,” is now #2. Beyonce’ Knowles, who has spent the last 27 consecutive weeks in the Top Five (five of those weeks at #1), is once again the Number One Glamour Girl with her six Grammy nominations, latest Top Ten hit “Me, Myself & I,” and magazine covers including In Style. Despite a goofy Vegas marriage that was annulled within 55 hours, Britney Spears is #4 (having spent 22 straight weeks in the Top Five) with her former chart-topping album “Get In the Zone,” and cover features including Maxim Blender. Women who have either: a) reached the #2 or #3 position (regardless of total weeks) ; b) spent at least 10 weeks in the Top Ten; c) reached #4-10 with 100 or more weeks on the Hot 100; or d) ranked as one of the top three glamour girls of the year during the past 10 years have a medium-large heart © to the left of their entries.

How the Glamour Girls Hot 100 Is Compiled

Glamour girls earn credit for each weekly chart in the following categories:

1)     Movies: The current Top 60 at the box office; films that recently left theaters; and pictures scheduled for release in the coming weeks. Note that a glamorous role in a mid-level film can earn more credit than a bland role in a bigger hit. Oscars, Golden Globes, and other honors are included; also, critical acclaim can earn the same credit as box office dollars.

2)     Magazines: Over 100 U.S. and international publications are included in each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the survey period count most heavily; recent magazines of the previous few weeks count at reduced value. Covers earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Esquire, GQ, Maxim, etc.) are accorded higher point totals than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most notably USA Today) and pin-up calendars are also included in this category.

3)     TV: What’s on the tube during the survey period, including first-run movies and appearances on late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings and Emmy/Golden Globe awards are also taken into consideration.

4)     Internet: The major factors in this category are the Lycos Top 50, a weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the Lycos search engine (including many glamour girls), and the daily top 100 rankings by DAI News tracking the women with the most photo downloads. Selected Web sites are also included, most notably Gateway to Eden, the Playboy Cyber Club, Mystique, Bomis, Ask Men.com, Danni’s Hard Drive, Maxim, FHM & GQ websites, and others.

5)     Music: The Billboard singles and album charts; MTV and VH-1 music video rankings as published in Billboard; European and international charts. Grammy Awards and other music industry honors are credited here.

6)     Home Video: The video sales, video rentals, and DVD sales charts as reported in Billboard and Entertainment Weekly. This category carries less weight than the above “Big Five.”

7)     Sports: Glamorous gals who earn athletic achievements during the survey period.

8)     Other: Broadway and off-Broadway theater; books.

9)     Beauty and Sex Appeal.
