The animated sequel “Shrek 2” has earned a smashing $379 million to soar into the all-time box office Top Ten, returning co-star Cameron Diaz to the status of Number One Glamour Girl. Seventeen-year-old hottie Lindsay Lohan, following three straight weeks as the Number One Glamour Girl, is now #2 for her starring role in the smash comedy “Mean Girls” ($83 million at the box office), serving as hostess of the MTV Movie Awards, and covers of Interview and Ingenue. Oscar-winning Aussie Nicole Kidman flies to #3 for her dark-comedy remake of “The Stepford Wives.” Bootylicious Beyonce’ Knowles is #4 with her smash single “Naughty Girl,” gorgeous cover feature in Harpers Bazaar, and national tour; she’s spent 54 consecutive weeks in the Top Ten. How the Glamour Girls Hot 100 Is Compiled

Glamour girls earn credit for each weekly chart in the following categories:

1)     Movies: The current Top 60 at the box office; films that recently left theaters; and pictures scheduled for release in the coming weeks. Note that a glamorous role in a mid-level film can earn more credit than a bland role in a bigger hit. Oscars, Golden Globes, and other honors are included; also, critical acclaim can earn the same credit as box office dollars.

2)     Magazines: Over 100 U.S. and international publications are included in each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the survey period count most heavily; recent magazines of the previous few weeks count at reduced value. Covers earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Esquire, GQ, Maxim, etc.) are accorded higher value than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most notably USA Today) and pin-up calendars are also included in this category.

3)     TV: What’s on the tube during the survey period, including first-run movies and appearances on late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings and Emmy/Golden Globe awards are also taken into consideration.

4)     Internet: The major factors in this category are the Lycos Top 50, a weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the Lycos search engine (including many glamour girls), and the daily top 100 rankings by DAI News tracking the women with the most photo downloads. Selected Web sites are also included, most notably Gateway to Eden, the Playboy Cyber Club, Bomis, Ask Men.com, Danni’s Hard Drive, Simply Gorgeous, Maxim, FHM & GQ websites, and others.

5)     Music: The Billboard singles and album charts; MTV and VH-1 music video rankings as published in Billboard; European and international charts. Grammy Awards and other music industry honors are credited here.

6)     Home Video: The video sales, video rentals, and DVD sales charts as reported in Billboard and Entertainment Weekly. This category carries less weight than the above “Big Five.”

7)     Sports: Glamorous gals who earn athletic achievements during the survey period.

8)     Other: Broadway and off-Broadway theater; books.

9)     Beauty and Sex Appeal.
