The sex goddess of Italian cinema today, Monica Bellucci, rises to the position of Number One Glamour Girl for the first time with a flurry of strong magazine covers including Flaunt, French Elle, & French Marie Claire, and her steamy upcoming film “Irresistible.” Beyonce’ Knowles rises above the toilet humor of “Austin Powers in Goldmember” ($142 million box office to date) to achieve the #2 ranking, boosted by the covers of Maxim, Cosmo Girl, Allure and Movieline. Britney Spears is #3 with her “Austin” cameo, ongoing tour, and new music video. The covers of British Esquire, SFX and Cosmo, plus the box office success of “Scooby Doo” ($151 million), keep Sarah Michelle Gellar strong at #4.

 

Pamela Anderson is powered by sexy cover layouts in Front and FHM to a #5 ranking, followed by ex-“Baywatch” pal Carmen Electra (covers of British FHM and Stuff). Jennifer Lopez’s new romance with Ben Affleck landed her on the covers of People and Us as she stands at #7. Playmate/Pet Victoria Zdrok returns to the Top Ten at #8 with a steamy new cover spread in Club, as does the extraordinary Miriam Gonzalez at #9 with her Playmate Review feature. How the Glamour Girls Hot 100 Is Compiled

Glamour girls earn points for each biweekly chart in the following categories:

1)     Movies: The current Top 60 at the box office; films that recently left theaters; and pictures scheduled for release in the coming weeks. Note that a glamorous role in a mid-level film can earn more points than a bland role in a bigger hit. Oscars, Golden Globes, and other honors are included; also, critical acclaim can earn the same credit as box office dollars.

2)     Magazines: Approximately 150 U.S. and international publications are included in each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the survey period count most heavily; recent magazines of the previous few weeks count at reduced value. Covers earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, etc.) are accorded higher point totals than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most notably USA Today) and pin-up calendars are also included in this category.

3)     TV: What’s on the tube during the two-week survey period, including first-run movies and appearances on late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings and Emmy/Golden Globe awards also taken into consideration.

4)     Internet: The major factors in this category are the Lycos Top 50, a weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the Lycos search engine (including many glamour girls), and the Bomis Report rankings of models, porn stars, and others with the most website hits. Selected Web sites are also included, most notably Gateway to Eden, the Playboy Cyber Club, Mystique, Mac & Bumble, IGN for Men, Ask Men.com, Famous Centerfolds, Danni’s Hard Drive, Adversus, VIP Models, Candy Dreams, TeraBabes, Maxim, FHM & GQ websites, and others.

5)     Music: The Billboard singles and album charts; MTV and VH-1 music video rankings as published in Billboard; European and international charts. Grammy Awards and other music industry honors are credited here.

6)     Home Video: The video sales, video rentals, and DVD sales charts as reported in Billboard and Entertainment Weekly. This category carries about half the weight of the above “Big Five.”

7)     Sports: Glamorous gals who earn athletic achievements during the survey period.

8)     Other: Broadway and off-Broadway theater; books.

9)     Beauty and Sex Appeal.
