THE GLAMOUR GIRLS HOT 100:

In her 94^th consecutive week on the survey and her 36^th cumulative week in the Top 10, Sarah Michelle Gellar at last achieves the hard-earned goal of ascending to the #1 position on the Glamour Girls Hot 100 thanks to the $137 million (and counting) box office success of “Scooby Doo” (plus a more challenging role in “Harvard Man,” also in theaters). British bombshell Kelly Brook (now #2) also culminated a long journey last week with her first-ever #1 ranking due to a sizzling semi-nude cover layout in Front.

 

Jennifer Lopez edges up to #3 with her potent combination of a Top Ten single, hit movie, and magazine covers, followed by Colombia’s Shakira (Maxim cover girl), Britney Spears, and FHM “world’s sexiest woman” Anna Kournikova. Brazil’s Gisele Bundchen (#1 sexiest of the year for Celebrity Sleuth) is #7; Italy’s Monica Bellucci (with two current magazine covers and two other sexy layouts) makes her third visit to the Top Ten at #8; Mexican golden girl Paulina Rubio leaps to #9 with the spectacular U.S. chart debut of her first English-language album; and Argentina’s Yamila Diaz-Rahi returns to the Top Ten at #10 with four current covers. This is our most international Top Ten ever: seven of the elite group (and 11 of the Top 20) are foreign-born, and five of the Top Ten (counting American-born Jennifer Lopez) are Latinas.

Although “V.I.P.” is no more, Pamela Anderson bounces back to #21 with a semi-nude cover layout in the August FHM. Elle cover girl Penelope Cruz moves up to #23, and German bra-buster Nadine Jansen (the Voluptuous cover babe) to #24. A spectacular nude layout in the August Playboy carries Renee’ & Rosie Tenison all the way up to #26. Approaching the premiere of her “Austin Powers” co-starring role, Beyonce’ Knowles jumps to #28 with a Movieline cover.

 

The big $90 million five-dayng for “Men In Black 2” enables Lara Flynn Boyle to extend her tentacles to the #35 position, as British Maxim cover girl Summer Altice continues her slow, steady climb to #36. New Wimbledon champion Serena Williams earns yet another honor with a giant step to #37. Aussie pin-up legend Elle Macpherson ascends to #40 with two sexy magazine features; blonde knockout Carol Grow to #41 with her new FHM layout; and “Son of the Beach” sizzler Jaime Bergman to #42. Other strong movers include Playboy‘s Miss August Christina Santiago (#47), “Mr. Deeds” co-star Winona Ryder (#48), and Loaded Summer Special cover babe Gabrielle Richens (#56).

How the Glamour Girls Hot 100 Is Compiled

Glamour girls earn points for each biweekly chart in the following categories:

1)     Movies: The current Top 60 at the box office; films that recently left theaters; and pictures scheduled for release in the coming weeks. Note that a glamorous role in a mid-level film can earn more points than a bland role in a bigger hit. Oscars, Golden Globes, and other honors are included; also, critical acclaim can earn the same credit as box office dollars.

2)     Magazines: Approximately 150 U.S. and international publications are included in each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the survey period count most heavily; recent magazines of the previous few weeks count at reduced value. Covers earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, etc.) are accorded higher point totals than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most notably USA Today) and pin-up calendars are also included in this category.

3)     TV: What’s on the tube during the two-week survey period, including first-run movies and appearances on late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings and Emmy/Golden Globe awards also taken into consideration.

4)     Internet: The major factors in this category are the Lycos Top 50, a weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the Lycos search engine (including many glamour girls), and the Bomis Report rankings of models, porn stars, and others with the most website hits. Selected Web sites are also included, most notably Gateway to Eden, the Playboy Cyber Club, Mystique, Mac & Bumble, IGN for Men, Ask Men.com, Famous Centerfolds, Danni’s Hard Drive, Adversus, VIP Models, Candy Dreams, TeraBabes, Maxim, FHM & GQ websites, and others.

5)     Music: The Billboard singles and album charts; MTV and VH-1 music video rankings as published in Billboard; European and international charts. Grammy Awards and other music industry honors are credited here.

6)     Home Video: The video sales, video rentals, and DVD sales charts as reported in Billboard and Entertainment Weekly. This category carries about half the weight of the above “Big Five.”

7)     Sports: Glamorous gals who earn athletic achievements during the survey period.

8)     Other: Broadway and off-Broadway theater; books.

9)     Beauty and Sex Appeal.
