by Steve SullivanThe sensational $40 millionng weekend for “Charlie’s Angels” removed any possible doubt about the ascent of Cameron Diaz to the #1 position in the Glamour Girls Hot 100. Cameron is the fourth different gal to achieve #1 in four Hot 100 charts—but has an excellent chance of being the first to repeat in the top spot. Elizabeth Hurley remained very strong in sliding one position to #2, while Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears held their ground at #3 and #4 respectively. The remarkable success of “Angels” enabled Drew Barrymore to surge from #13 to #5, and Lucy Liu to rise from #32 to #18. Carmen Electra is the other new entry in the Top Ten on the strength of her Playboy layout. Other big movers on the chart include classic screen beauty Charlize Theron (from #24 to #12), with two films in the box office Top Ten, and British stunner Kelly Brook, skyrocketing all the way from #52 to #14 thanks to some spectacular new magazine appearances. girls earn points for each biweekly chart in the following categories: 1)
Movies: The current Top 60 at the box office;
films that recently left theaters; and pictures scheduled for release in the
coming weeks. Note that a
glamorous role in a mid-level film can earn more points than a bland role in a
bigger hit. Also, critical acclaim
can earn the same credit as box office dollars. 2)
Magazines: Approximately 150 U.S. and
international publications are included in each survey. Magazines on newsstands during the
survey period count most heavily; recent magazines of the previous month or two
count at reduced value. Covers
earn more points than inside features; top-level magazines (Playboy, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, etc.) are accorded higher point totals
than others; nude or semi-nude layouts get extra credit. Newspapers (most notably the London
Sun and USA Today) are also included in this category. 3)
TV: What’s on the tube during the
two-week survey period, including not only series but movies airing on the
networks and appearances in late-night talk shows; Nielsen ratings taken into
consideration. 4)
Internet: The major factor in this category is
the Lycos Top 50, a weekly chart measuring the most-searched items through the
Lycos search engine, including many glamour girls. Selected Web sites are also included, most notably Gateway
to Eden, the Playboy Cyber Club, Mystique, Versus Online, IGN for Men, Top Net
Models, Famous Centerfolds, Women of Desire, and others. 5)
Music: The Billboard singles and album charts; MTV and VH-1
music video rankings as published in Billboard; European and international
charts. 6)

Sports: Glamorous gals who earn athletic
achievements during the survey period; during non-Olympic periods, this is

appearances. Women who do not earn
